Unless you are your state champion don't count on a big scholarship. Many large division 1 schools won't give you any money until you've been on the team at least a year, and then only if you perform well (scoring in conference meets and qualifying for regionals, etc).

Pole vault scholarships are also hard to come by because polevaulters are less valuable to a team because they can only score in one event. If you really want to get a scholarship, learn the long and triple jump, or do multiple sprints...that's where the money is.

I am a vauler and I'm afraid of heights and I am not terribly muscular...decent at jumping and sprinting though. In 2 seasons, I got over 6" twice.

I may not be the best on the team and I may not be natural at it...but my coaches agreed I'm a vaulter and that I'm motivated to do it. You NEED to put motivated on that article...it HAS to be. In order to do it, motivation is key.

The green pole in the video is a skypole.

The bar really doesn't hurt that bad once you get used to it. Also...if you bend the pole, it isn't a good idea to let go while its bending...I did that once and it hit me across the chest and it HURT.

He shouldn't keep the pole on the ground while running down the runway...even when I first started I didn't do that. It slows your momentum. And the pole's all over the runway and screwing his vault up really bad.

It is decently hard, but its more of how much practice it takes than how hard it is...It took me a month to get over 4'6" but in 2 seasons I got over 6' twice.

Wow, this gal has drive! Someone who works so hard and with such passionate determination stands an excellent chance of realizing her goal. I'll be surprised if she doesn't make it.
